
This enclosed CNC workstation performs secondary machining after the primary casting process. Die casting can form complex near-net shapes, but threads, precision bores, sealing faces and tightly located holes are often completed afterward. The manufacturing plan should decide which features belong in the mold and which require cutting.
A cast hole can reduce material and cycle time, yet it normally includes draft and casting variation. A machined hole can hold a tighter diameter or positional relationship. Threads may be cored where practical, but the final thread form is commonly tapped. Sealing and bearing faces are machined when their flatness, roughness or fit exceeds the as-cast requirement.

After cutting, chips are removed from cavities and threads. A machined face that will seal or locate an assembly is protected during transfer. If the part goes to coating, the drawing should identify masked threads, grounding points and gasket surfaces so finishing does not undo the machining result.
Send casting material, 3D data, toleranced drawing, projected volume and finish requirements in one RFQ. Quoting casting and machining separately without a shared datum plan can create allowance or fixture problems later.
