A small motor housing cover set is different from a single cover because the buyer usually cares about how several parts work together. The cover, end shield or related housing pieces may need consistent hole patterns, matching appearance, stable coating and repeatable assembly fit. If each part is inspected alone without checking the set relationship, problems can appear only when the customer assembles the motor.

When parts are supplied as a set, inspection should check the features that connect the set. Hole pattern, bearing seat, locating edge, screw boss, coating color and visible surface quality may need to be consistent across the parts. A single piece can pass its own drawing but still look or fit poorly when paired with another part from a different batch.
For export buyers, batch consistency is especially important because parts may be assembled weeks after delivery. Traceability, packing separation and clear labeling help prevent mixing parts that should remain together.
| Set requirement | Why it matters | Control method |
|---|---|---|
| Hole pattern relationship | Parts must assemble without forcing screws | Use fixture check or datum-based dimensional report |
| Bearing or center feature | Motor alignment affects noise and wear | CNC machine critical bores and inspect related features |
| Coating color and texture | Set parts should look consistent to end users | Approve sample and control finish batch |
| Visible surfaces | Mismatch makes the product look low quality | Define cosmetic zones for each part in the set |
| Packing and labeling | Prevents mixed or rubbed parts during shipment | Pack matched pieces separately or label by batch |
For a small motor cover set, functional assembly testing can reveal issues that dimensional reports miss. For example, a boss may be within tolerance but a burr near the screw hole prevents the cover from seating. A coating layer may be acceptable on one part but create interference when two pieces clamp together.
Buyers should decide whether sample approval requires a simple assembly trial. This does not replace dimensional inspection, but it confirms that the parts work together as intended.
| Stage | Risk | Buyer requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Casting batch | Different shrinkage or surface condition between runs | Keep process records for critical repeated orders |
| CNC machining | Datum variation affects paired assembly | Use consistent fixture logic across set parts |
| Surface finishing | Color or gloss difference between pieces | Finish matched sets under controlled batch conditions |
| Final inspection | Individual pass but set assembly failure | Add fit check or fixture check for sample approval |
| Export packing | Parts rub, mix or damage visible surfaces | Use separation, labeling and protective packing |
Send the drawings for all matched parts, assembly relationship, visible surface standard, coating requirement, annual quantity, packing preference and whether parts must be delivered as sets. If the covers are used on a motor with bearing or shaft alignment requirements, include that information so the supplier can plan machining and inspection around the assembly.
