A pipe connector housing is a small part with a high functional burden. It must connect with another fitting, hold thread engagement, protect the sealing shoulder and remain clean inside the flow path. If the casting is treated as a simple connector shape, hidden burrs, thread mistakes or coating build-up can create assembly problems later.

A thread callout alone is not enough for a pipe connector. Buyers should define the thread standard, effective depth, whether sealing tape or O-ring is used, and whether the thread is pressure-related. BSP, NPT, metric and customer-specific threads can look similar on a quick drawing review but require different gauges and machining choices.
If the thread is machined after casting, the casting must reserve enough material around the port. If coating is applied after machining, masking or thread chasing may be needed. These details affect price, lead time and inspection records.
| Feature | Risk if unclear | Recommended control |
|---|---|---|
| Threaded port | Poor fit, leakage or cross-threading | Define thread standard, depth and gauge requirement |
| Sealing shoulder | O-ring or gasket cannot seal reliably | Machine or inspect the shoulder surface and edge condition |
| Internal passage | Burrs or chips contaminate the system | Plan deburring and cleanliness check |
| Wall around port | Porosity or weak material near pressure area | Review boss size, wall transition and machining stock |
| Surface finish | Coating affects thread or sealing surface | Mark masking areas and inspect after finishing |
For a connector used in air, water, oil or cooling systems, internal cleanliness can be as important as external appearance. Small burrs at a drilled intersection may not be visible from the outside. They can still break loose, block a passage or damage a seal. Buyers should ask how the supplier will remove burrs from internal intersections and whether visual, air blow or customer-defined cleanliness checks are needed.
| Evidence | What it confirms | When to request it |
|---|---|---|
| Thread gauge result | Thread fit and effective depth | All threaded connector projects |
| Sealing shoulder check | Surface is clean and usable for gasket or O-ring | Leak-sensitive parts |
| Burr inspection photo | Internal edge condition is acceptable | New tooling or difficult passages |
| Leak test record | Pressure function is validated | When the connector seals fluid or air |
| Packing approval | Threads and sealing surfaces remain protected | Export shipments and machined connectors |
Send the thread standard, medium, pressure condition, sealing method, coating requirement, cleanliness requirement, annual quantity and whether leak testing is required. This helps Huabo review casting, CNC machining and inspection as one connected process.
