Valve body housings and fluid control castings should be reviewed differently from ordinary covers. A small casting defect may be acceptable on a non-functional surface, but the same defect on a sealing path, threaded port or machined gasket face can cause leakage after assembly. That is why leak-related requirements should be defined before tooling and not left until final inspection.

When a buyer sends a valve body model, the supplier needs to understand where fluid travels, where pressure is held and which faces are connected to seals. Without that information, the mold may still produce a good-looking casting, but machining and leak testing may reveal risks that should have been addressed during design review.
For aluminum die casting, thick port bosses, intersecting holes and internal corners can increase porosity risk if the wall transition is not balanced. The answer is not simply adding more material. Sometimes a smaller local section, better radius, changed gate direction or revised machining allowance gives a more stable result.
| Feature | Why it matters | Recommended control |
|---|---|---|
| Threaded ports | Threads must seal and assemble repeatedly | CNC tapping or thread machining with gauge check |
| Gasket surface | Flatness and scratches can create leakage | Machine surface, protect from handling damage and inspect roughness |
| Internal wall near port | Porosity can connect to pressure path | Review wall thickness, machining depth and leak test need |
| Coating or surface finish | Coating can enter threads or sealing areas | Define masking zones and no-coating areas |
| Packaging | Machined sealing faces can be damaged after QC | Use separation or caps for critical surfaces |
Not every valve-related casting needs a full leak test, but a part that holds pressure or seals fluid should have the test method discussed early. The buyer should state the pressure, medium, acceptable leakage rate and whether testing is required for every part or only during validation. A clear leak test note helps the factory plan fixtures and cycle time.
A useful RFQ includes pressure condition, fluid type, port standard, thread depth, sealing surface drawing, surface treatment and expected annual volume. If the part has been redesigned from machining or sand casting to die casting, note which dimensions are functionally unchanged and which areas can be optimized for die casting.
