A motor end cover looks like a simple circular casting, but it decides how the bearing sits, how the shaft stays aligned and how the motor assembly feels during operation. For buyers, the important question is not only whether the part can be die cast. The real question is whether the die casting, CNC machining and inspection plan can protect the bearing seat and mounting relationship through repeated production.

The bearing seat is normally not treated as a raw casting surface. It usually needs CNC machining after casting because the fit controls noise, vibration and service life. If the casting stock is too small, machining may expose pores or fail to clean the surface completely. If the stock is excessive, machining time increases and local stress may change after material removal.
During RFQ review, Huabo would check whether the drawing marks the bearing bore, mounting face and bolt hole pattern as related features. These features should not be evaluated separately. A good cover can pass a single bore dimension but still create assembly trouble if the bore, face and bolt holes are not controlled from a stable datum.
| Area | Common risk | Better buyer instruction |
|---|---|---|
| Bearing bore | Out-of-round machining or exposed casting defect | Define final bore tolerance, roughness and inspection method |
| Mounting face | Poor flatness causes assembly gap | Mark machined face and flatness requirement on the 2D drawing |
| Wall transition | Shrinkage near thick boss or rib root | Allow DFM review before mold release |
| Bolt holes | Hole position error after machining fixture shift | Confirm datum structure and gauge plan |
| Visible surface | Gate, ejector or trimming marks in exposed area | Identify the exterior side before mold design |
For a motor end cover, the first machining setup is important. If the fixture references an unstable raw casting edge, later dimensions may drift. A more reliable plan is to define one machined face or bore relationship as the control base, then connect hole position and flatness inspection to the same logic. This is why a supplier should ask for assembly information instead of only quoting from a 3D model.
Send the 3D file, 2D tolerance drawing, bearing model or bore fit, surface finish requirement, annual quantity and any balancing or noise requirement. If the cover will be painted or powder coated, mark no-coating areas around machined faces and grounding areas.
