Painted ADC12 Aluminum Die Casting Junction Box Housing is developed around the complete enclosure interface: base, cover, gasket, fasteners, cable entries and mounting points. A robust-looking casting does not automatically create a sealed electrical box. Gasket compression, mating-face flatness, thread condition and coating thickness must work together in the finished assembly.

Enclosure Requirements Clarified at RFQ Stage

Huabo asks whether the housing is used indoors, outdoors, on machinery or in another controlled environment. The customer should identify the target enclosure or ingress requirement, but product-level compliance depends on the complete assembled box and must be validated by the equipment owner. The casting plan therefore focuses on measurable interfaces that support that validation.

Gasket Groove and Mating Face Review

The groove width, depth, corner radius and gasket material determine compression. Heavy sections around the groove can also influence porosity and local deformation. Huabo reviews the cover interface before tooling and distinguishes the functional gasket land from the wider cosmetic rim. If machining is required, stock allowance and cutter access are included in the tool design rather than added after the first samples.

Casting and Secondary Operations

  1. Confirm ADC12 or the specified alloy, enclosure interfaces and finish condition.

  2. Review gate, overflow and vent locations around the deep cavity and heavy corner bosses.

  3. Die cast, trim and remove flash from the parting line, groove and cable-entry areas.

  4. Machine the gasket face, threaded entries, mounting pads or grounding point where the drawing requires it.

  5. Clean the housing and protect internal threads and electrical contact areas with an agreed masking plan.

  6. Apply paint or powder coating to the approved color, texture and appearance standard.

  7. Inspect dimensions in the final coated condition and perform any specified assembly or leak test.

Threaded Cable Entries

Thread form, usable depth and entry chamfer should match the cable gland or conduit fitting. The drawing should state whether the thread is inspected before or after coating and whether a sealing compound is used in the final assembly. Huabo controls machining chips and burrs because contamination inside an electrical housing can create problems even when the dimensions pass.

Painting and Powder Coating

The finish specification should define color, gloss or texture, corrosion expectation, cosmetic zones and masking. Paint must not cover the gasket land unevenly, block drainage features or reduce thread engagement. Hanging points are selected away from primary appearance areas where possible. Coated housings are separated during packing to prevent face-to-face abrasion.

Inspection and Enclosure Testing

First-article inspection covers the cover-to-base relationship, gasket land, screw pattern, cable entries, mounting feet and overall envelope. A leak test can be added when the customer provides the test medium, pressure, duration and acceptance limit. This verifies the manufactured part or assembly under an agreed method; it does not replace certification testing for the customer’s finished electrical product.

Quotation Documents

Send the base and cover models, 2D drawings, gasket specification, fastener and cable-gland details, finish requirement, target quantity and any enclosure test method. Mark grounding points and dimensions that apply after coating. Huabo can integrate ADC12 aluminum die casting, CNC machining, painting or powder coating and inspection.

Junction Box FAQ

Does a die cast housing automatically meet an IP rating?
No. The rating applies to the complete assembled enclosure. The casting, gasket, cover, cable entries and fasteners must be designed and tested together.

Can grounding areas remain unpainted?
Yes. Masking or post-machining can be specified for electrical contact points, with the final continuity requirement controlled by the customer drawing.

Can Huabo machine cable-gland threads?
Yes. Supply the thread standard, class, usable depth and mating fitting so machining and gauging can be included in the quotation.
