Round Fan Motor End Cover Die Casting: Ventilation Openings, Bearing Alignment and Coating Control
2026-07-15 10:31:13

A round fan motor end cover must support the motor assembly while allowing airflow, protecting internal parts and keeping the bearing or shaft relationship stable. The part may look like a light cover, but ventilation openings, screw bosses, bearing areas and coating thickness can all affect final assembly. Buyers should review these details before approving tooling or samples.

Ventilation openings need casting and deburring control

Vent openings are useful for airflow, but they can also create filling marks, thin edges and burr risk. If the slots or holes are near rotating parts, wiring or the fan path, burr control becomes a functional requirement. The drawing should define which edges must be smooth and whether any opening requires extra deburring after casting or machining.

The supplier should also consider gate direction, overflow and ejection marks around visible ventilation areas. A cover can pass size inspection but still look poor if the airflow openings have rough edges or inconsistent finish.

Bearing alignment should be checked as an assembly relationship

If the cover supports a bearing, locating ring or motor frame fit, the supplier should not inspect each feature as an isolated dimension. The bore, face, bolt circle and outside locating area should be related to the functional datum. This is especially important for fan motors where small misalignment can create noise or vibration.

Coating control for visible and functional areas

Fan motor covers are often visible after assembly, so surface finish matters. At the same time, coating must not interfere with bearing seats, grounding points, screw holes or contact faces. Buyers should separate visible cosmetic zones from functional no-coating zones on the drawing.
