A multi port valve connector looks simple from the outside, but it can become a difficult casting when several ports, threads and sealing directions meet in one compact body. The part may connect air, oil, water or other fluid lines, so the buyer should control not only dimensions but also port relationship, burr removal and possible leak paths.

When a connector has several ports, measuring each hole separately is not enough. The port centerline, thread angle, sealing face and distance between ports should match the final assembly. A fitting may screw in correctly but still interfere with another pipe or bracket if the port angle is not controlled.
The drawing should show which port is the primary datum and which faces are used for CNC setup. If the connector is installed in a tight equipment space, provide the assembly direction and clearance area. This helps the die casting supplier plan machining fixtures and deburring access.
| Feature | Possible problem | Recommended requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Main port centerline | Pipe angle or fitting direction is wrong | Control from a functional datum, not from a rough casting surface |
| Threaded holes | Loose fitting, insufficient depth or damaged thread | Define thread standard, effective depth and gauge inspection |
| Sealing face | Leakage after assembly | CNC machine sealing face and protect from scratches |
| Internal edges | Burrs enter fluid path | Specify deburring and cleaning requirement |
| Coating or anodizing | Build-up changes thread or sealing fit | Mask or clean ports after finishing |
Some connector castings only hold mechanical fittings; others work as part of a pressure path. These two cases need different inspection plans. If the connector must seal pressure, the RFQ should define test pressure, test medium, holding time and whether testing applies to samples only or every production part. Without this information, two suppliers may quote very different processes for the same drawing.
For ports and threaded passages, burrs are not cosmetic defects. A small chip can damage a seal, block a passage or contaminate a system. Buyers should state whether ultrasonic cleaning, air blowing, visual check or special cleanliness standard is needed. The correct level depends on the final equipment, not only on the casting process.
| Checklist item | Why it helps | Suggested document |
|---|---|---|
| Port map | Prevents confusion between inlet, outlet and auxiliary ports | 2D drawing or marked PDF |
| Thread specification | Avoids mismatch between BSP, NPT, metric or custom thread | Drawing note and gauge requirement |
| Leak test condition | Clarifies sample and production control cost | Test pressure and acceptance standard |
| Cleaning requirement | Controls burrs and chips inside passages | Cleanliness note or inspection method |
| Packaging method | Protects sealing faces and threads during export | Tray, cap or separated packing instruction |
